This is my last trip before the end of the year (for real :)). I went on a trek to the third highest mountain in Thailand, the Chiang Dao (2225 meters above the sea level). It was an easy 2 days trip through a lean slope up and only steep after our camp area to the summit.
Going up was a piece of cake, going down however was madness. When we were sleeping in our tent, the rain poured on us the whole night. I could hear the loud wind gust at night, I had to put my earphones on in order to sleep. We went to the summit in the early morning with fogs covering our sight. As we go higher the wind almost blew us off our feet. Luckily the way to the summit was only 20 minutes away from the camp so we didn't have to endure much. When we arrived on the summit, it was way to foggy we could not even see the cliff surrounding the summit. It started to rain heavily, while the wind blew from all directions so eventually we had to go down. The way down proved to be extremely challenging as the rain wept away all the steady ground and slippery slopes were left with water running down like a waterfall. It was like this the whole way down and I ended up falling a couple of times. I eventually found a solution to descend a slippery slopes. To go slow and grab whatever you can and descend. I grabbed a bunch of long grasses on the side, wrapped around my hands and start using it as a rope to descend down. Sometime, I even let my buttocks to the work. :)
