From Muscat I decided to drive south west towards an area not many roadtrippers take to Nakhl hoping to be off the beaten path. Turns out, Oman as a country is already an off-the-beaten path place with most of the places I go, I had the entire place for myself.
First I drove an hour on the great Omani highway to Nakhl and visited the Nakhl fort, a well-maintained massive fort with a great view of the surrounding area. It cost only 1 OMR to enter and has more things to do than, say Nizwa fort which is crowded, and cost 7 OMR! I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Nakhl. What a great way to start a road trip.
