Due to certain (uncertain) circumstances, I had a chance to travel to Khiva twice from Bukhara. Khiva is a beautiful world heritage silk road ancient city that is encapsulated in a fortress wall. The entire city can be seen in one evening but in order to see where the hidden gems are, you will probably need more time than that. For example, there's a nice tower you can go up to watch the sunset above this city that will require you to explore a little to find the entrance.
Other than the city itself, the surrounding area around Khiva has a few things worth seeing. The sand fortresses that scattered around the desert of Khiva are quite a sight to behold. Unfortunately, it is not being actively maintain so see them while you can.
Other than that, this was the last city for my Uzbekistan trip. From here, I crossed the border Turkmenistan and continue my journey onward.
