Because I had my kids with me, I didn't get to hike from the bottom like I wanted to. Instead, I terrified them by driving up the winding mountain road to the observatory and the summit sign, then climbed the extra quarter mile of switchbacks to the top. The view was incredible and thankfully the altitude didn't bother me at all, though it gave a few of the kids headaches. Now my goal is to go back and hike it from the bottom up! Seeing the wild marmot on the summit path was awesome!
